Yacht Rock to Kansas City
📍 St. Louis → Kansas City, MO
After Keith fielded a couple of international calls starting at 0530, we were on the road by 0855. Tuned into Yacht Rock on Sirius XM, we took off into the clouds.
It’s amazing how many towns across the US are named after other countries or sister cities. I’ve now seen Leavenworth, Centralia, and a few more I didn’t get photos of — towns I only knew from Washington state.
We crossed the Missouri River three times on the way from St. Louis to Kansas City.

I saw this shape along the road and still haven’t figured out what it is. Any ideas?

The Star Wars Truck Driver
I didn’t quite get the full picture — but there was a truck driver ahead of us who had a four-foot statue behind the driver’s side of his rig. The truck was white, the trailer was white, and then… there he was. I gave him a clap or two for his ingenuity.

Worlds of Fun, Kansas City
We arrived at Worlds of Fun in a suburb of Kansas City. The view behind our site:

I think we need a family vacation here — the cabins sleep 6–8 people.
The Neighbors
Keith is already in his element — fixing a CB radio problem and an electrical issue for our campground neighbor. That’s an Eagle Scout and Airstreamer for you.
Our neighbors are veteran caravaners — this is their 19th caravan. I am jealous of all the places they’ve been and enthusiastic about what’s ahead for us. We’re taking notes, as Keith has us co-hosting a caravan from Independence, MO along the Santa Fe Trail in 2028.
80 Degrees and Needlepoint
80 degrees at the campsite with possible rain ahead, so I sat outside and worked on a needlepoint project. Charlotte and Rowan will have Christmas towels by the time I arrive in the Tri Cities. The towels are just the right size that a little road bumping still allows me to make stitches.
Running low on DMC 909, so Keith will look for it when he takes the truck in for an oil change in the morning. My big plan: a load or two of laundry, and then we’re off to the Truman Library when he gets back.
Settled in for the evening — Keith with one of our Budweiser gift Ultras from the brewery tour, me with a G&T. Kelly, it is delish. Notes of citrus. Cannot tell you how much I love my added drawers and counter — thank you, Ramble!

BIG NEWS
Remember how I said we were 120 pounds over our weight limit and Keith was having a fit? I asked him to re-weigh the truck and trailer.
240 pounds UNDER the limit.
I feel entirely justified in questioning that CAT scale back home. And he feels relieved.
